Opel Event on a Event Ship in Frankfurt

Event Catering Frankfurt in an extraordinary event format: On March 14, 2019, we provided catering for an exclusive special event for Opel aboard an event ship at Holbeinsteg in Frankfurt. Approximately 210 guests enjoyed an evening featuring a reception, a buffet-style dinner, and live cooking stations during a cruise on the Main River. The catering concept combined regional cuisine with modern event presentation on the water.

Client: Opel
Occasion: Special Event / Client Event
Guests: approx. 210 attendees
Location: Event ship at Holbeinsteg, Frankfurt am Main

The event began in the afternoon with setup and preparations on board. In the evening, guests arrived at the Holbeinsteg pier and were welcomed directly on the ship. During the cruise, the evening unfolded as a social gathering featuring networking, culinary stations, and views of the Frankfurt skyline. After dinner, the ship returned to the pier, where the evening came to a close.

OUR SOLUTION: EVENT CATERING IN FRANKFURT WITH LIVE COOKING ON THE WATER

For the reception, we served welcome finger food, which was arranged on the tables and partly served via a flying service. Small regional bites—such as a lollipop made of Frankfurt green sauce coated in herbs, pretzel confections with caramelized onions, and mini waffles with smoked Taunus trout and cucumber texture—set a lively tone for the start of the evening.

The appetizers were served as a flying service. A wild herb salad with radishes and walnut dressing, a potato Baumkuchen with a salad of smoked pork loin, and a modern take on cod pastrami with pear and sour cream showcased regional ingredients in a contemporary style.

The evening featured several live cooking demonstrations. Fresh spaetzle was prepared right in front of the guests and then served with a variety of toppings—classic with bacon, vegetarian with vegetables, or with Frankfurt green sauce.

Other main courses rounded out the menu: pulled beef marinated in apple cider, served with zucchini and roasted potatoes; and pan-seared pikeperch fillet with carrot-leek chutney, a beluga lentil salad, and gremolata.

To finish, we served desserts via a flying service. Grandma’s quark dumplings with nougat spuma, along with a modern take on the Frankfurter Kranz featuring white chocolate, aronia relish, and sponge cake, provided the sweet finale.

THE RESULT: EVENT CATERING IN FRANKFURT WITH A VIEW OF THE SKYLINE

Guests moved freely between the deck, dining areas, and live cooking stations. The combination of a river cruise, skyline views, and culinary delights created a special event atmosphere.

This demonstrated how Event Catering Frankfurt can operate even at unusual venues, transform event boats into culinary experiences, and professionally cater to large groups of guests on the water.
